On 22 July, 'Hero Warrior', an independent Local Peoples Defence Force (LPDF) based in Central Myanmar officially mandated ASF-IWA to conduct humanitarian fundraisers for 'Hero Warrior' food distribution program to displaced communities and healthcare infrastructure for the next 12 months.
'Hero Warrior' was founded in 2022 in response to the coup by the Myanmar military (Tatmadaw) against the elected government of Myanmar. The spontaneously organised civil disobedience movement in Yangon was brutally repressed and many people fled the city for their lives.
The 'Hero Warrior' LPDF has not only engaged in resistance against the Tatmadaw, they have also resisted attempts by ethnic-based militias and the exiled National Unity Government (NUG) military Peoples Defence Force to bring them under their command and control.
In the last few months, 'Hero Warrior' LPDF have been subjected to air strikes with increasing frequency and more recently, the Tatmadaw have been using drones to attack them and local communities not yet under the control of the Tatmadaw. As a consequence, 'Hero Warrior' have suspended all military operations to focus on supporting local communities with a food distribution programs and mobile medical clinics.
Currently, ASF-IWA are raising funds for urgently needed food supplies. Please consider making a donation however small.
